Introduction

The EU/US Policy Oriented ATLANTIS Project “PACTS” - “Policy Analysis for Complex Transport Systems” (www.pacts-eu-us.net) will organize a Summer Course, with the theme Policy Analysis of Complex Transport Systems, that will be held in Sao Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal, from June 2nd to June 7th, 2012.

Goal

The goal of the summer course is to provide professionals and researchers:
• Advanced training in policy analysis of complex transport systems;
• Obtain improved skills and knowledge to advance their careers.

Course Structure

The summer course will take place during six highly focused and intense days of advanced training, presentations and discussions. Specifically, the course will be divided into Theoretical Lectures and Policy Games.

Topics

The summer course will cover advanced topics on air, maritime, urban transport and traffic modeling.

Language

The Summer Course will be taught in English.

Important Dates

• April 15, 2011: Deadline for Registration and Scholarships Applications;
• Important Notice: the course is organized from Saturday to Thursday.

Who Should Attend

The course is designed for professionals (from industry and public authorities) and academic researchers (professors, researchers, PhD students), interested in policy analysis for transportation systems, such as managers, planners, economists, engineers.

Scholarships

A number of full and partial scholarships will be awarded.

ECTS Credits

PhD students participating to the course who need to receive ECTS credits can ask to be evaluated. The workload for the course, corresponds to 6 ECTS credits.

Tuition Fees

(a) Professional: 1,300 €
(b) Student: 800 €
This includes hotel accommodations for 5 days, and a welcome dinner on Saturday.
